WEIGHT LOSS
How to Stay Motivated
Weight loss is a challenging experience.
It can be difficult for even the most disciplined person. In this article you can find some simple ways to keep you on track during your weight loss journey. |
- Refer back to your goals. Remind yourself why you are trying to lose weight. Keep them in a strategic place so if you feel your motivation waivering you can easily refer back to them.
- Record your results. Measurements are a better indicator of your results than scales. Often the scales don’t account for increased muscle mass. By tracking your results you can also remind yourself how far you’ve come.
- Take a photo of yourself and place it somewhere strategic where you will be reminded of what you are trying to achieve and what you have to overcome.
- Vary your routine. Don’t do the same type of exercise every day. Get out and try something new – dance classes, hiking or swimming. This keeps your training interesting whilst achieving great results.
- Train with a friend. This makes you accountable to someone else and can be a lot more enjoyable than going it alone.
- Reward yourself. If you achieve a goal, reward yourself for your hard work – a new c.d., a massage or a trip to a beauty therapist will make you feel proud of what you have achieved and help you stay on track.

EXERCISE OF THE MONTH
Push-ups
Push-ups are a fantastic exercise to sculpt your arms. Not only do push-ups target your chest muscles but they also help to tone your triceps and shoulders!. |
|
To commence, begin lying down with your hands palms down and slightly more than shoulder width apart. Push your body up of the floor, straightening your arms whilst keeping your back straight and stomach muscles engaged. Slowly lower your body towards the floor, bending your elbows until you are an inch or two from the ground. Repeat.
If you are new to push-ups, you may wish to commence on your knees and build your strength up until you can complete a push-up on your toes. For an even further challenge, why not try push-ups on a fitball or medicine ball! |
MONTHLY FIT FACT: INCIDENTAL EXERCISE
In today’s busy world, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find time for exercise.
But there is simple way to get more out of your everyday activities if you can’t find time for scheduled training.
Incidental Exercise are the movements we perform during daily tasks. We can maximize the calories burnt during the day by reshaping a few habits.
- Instead of taking the elevator or escalator find the nearest stairs.
- Park 5 or 10 minutes away from shopping centers or schools so you have a little further to walk.
- Get off the bus a stop early
- Don’t use the T.V remote. Try and get up every time you want to change the channel.
- Place any exercise equipment in the lounge room so you may be motivated to use it while watching T.V.
- Get up and walk around every time you get a call on your mobile phone
- Don’t sit in the office for your lunch break. Go outside for a walk instead.
