Welcome to the February 2009 edition of Intuitive Fitness’s monthly newsletter. We will be providing a new edition every month discussing all issues related to your health, fitness and general wellbeing…Fitness News in Feb - This month we want to help you remain focused into 2009! With January & all important New Year’s resolutions having come and gone,  it is important to stay motivated and on track to your health and fitness goals. In this addition, we also take a look at why hydration is so important, especially for when training during the summer months, and discuss how to firm and tone your bottom and thighs with squats. Hydration – How much is enough? Water is vital for life, in more ways than one. So why should you be concerned?.
MONTHLY FUN FACT: Running is a fantastic form of exercise. Benefits include burning around 880 calories per hour for a medium paced jog, as well as, aiding to build strong bones, improve stamina and cardio-vascular fitness, and strengthen your muscles. So get out there are have a go…
EVENT OF THE MONTH - Are you looking to challenge yourself with a fun run this year? The Brooks River Run is held on the banks of the picturesque Maribyrnong river. The event offers both 4km and 8km distances, commencing at 8.30am on Sunday the 1st of March. Exercise of the Month - Squats - Do you want a trim & toned lower half – we recommend Squats!
Squats will tighten and tone your legs and bottom. To correctly execute a squat, begin with you feet hip distance apart so that your toes, knees and hips are in a straight line. Slowly lower your body as if you are about to sit down on a chair. Keep lowering until your bottom is in line with your knees. Ensure that your knees have not come out over your toes. Keeping your weight in your heels and slowly raise yourself back to starting position, keeping your knees soft. To make the exercise more challenging, simply add some extra resistance by using a pair of dumbbells.
