Weight Training - importance of weight training

 

 

What is weight training?
Weight or resistance training refers to exercise during which the muscle is placed under a load or resistance force i.e. a dumbbell or resistance band. In this state the muscle must recruit more nerve cells to aid muscle contraction, enlarging the muscle.

The benefits of resistance training are numerous and include increased muscle strength and size, increased bone density, increased metabolism, enhanced sports performance and performance in everyday tasks, and greater overall endurance levels. Resistance training is a great way to maintain a toned, healthy looking body. Two to three sessions a week with a 48hour rest period in between is all you need to look fit and fabulous!
